For another year, competitors awakened their lion hearts in the Ultra Cross Triathlon
For the fourth year running, the one-of-a-kind Lion Heart ultra cross triathlon challenged everyone with enough courage, endurance and motivation to push beyond their own limits in a unique adventure in the heart of the Strandzha Mountains and Primorsko.
The race was held in two categories, ULTRA and RELAY, and tested the athletes’ abilities both individually and in a team challenge of two or three participants.
The stages include a 3 km swim in Perla Bay, 116 km of mountain biking through the wilds of Strandzha and a 21 km run in the Ropotamo reserve, for a total distance of 140 km and a cut-off time of 13 hours.
The course passes through four nature reserves and past 12 Thracian sanctuaries, taking the competitors through some of the most remote and mystical corners of the Strandzha Mountains to reveal the vast natural and cultural wealth of the region. This year the event was held in Primorsko and more than 380 participants took part. Of all the competitors, 100 people finished successfully in the “Ultra” category and 74 teams in the “Relay” category, which shows the improving standard of all the participants.
