11th International Chess Festival “Wings of the Intellect” 2019

Competitors from Greece, Turkey, Macedonia and many clubs from across Bulgaria took part. The chess battles were divided into two classical chess tournaments - Tournament “A” for the 10, 12, 14 and 16 age groups and Tournament “B” for children under 7 and under 9. Tournament “A” became the strongest junior tournament in Bulgaria for 2019, as the strongest children and juniors from all over Bulgaria entered it. Blitz (speed chess) tournaments were also arranged for fun, and Jack Sparrow came as a guest, encouraging the children in the pirate battles and presenting awards to the winners at the end. The festival programme also included events to promote the spiritual and intellectual development of Bulgaria’s children and young people. The winners of the classical chess tournaments were: in Tournament “A”, Stoyan Stoyanov of Chess Club “Asenovets 2006”, and Georgi Kolev of Chess Club “Chesbomb”. The players of the festival’s organiser, Plovdiv Chess Club, also performed excellently.
