Launch of the “Let’s Be Healthy” campaign in Plovdiv’s kindergartens for the seventh year
On 15 February the “Let’s Be Healthy” educational campaign on healthy eating and the need for sport was launched in the kindergartens of Plovdiv Municipality for the seventh year running. The launch was given at Tanya Sivicheva Kindergarten by the mayor of Trakia District, Mr Kostadin Dimitrov, and Mrs Donka Shtilyanova, head of the Education Directorate at Plovdiv Municipality. The campaign is free for the children and is part of the educational policy of Plovdiv Municipality.
Through entertaining games, children learn about the main food groups (grains, vegetables, fruit, fats, meat and dairy) and the need for a varied diet. The little ones are given a variety of useful prizes: tinned vegetables, eco shopping bags and colouring books with healthy recipes from Bonduelle, as well as a bottle of Bachkovo spring water and a toy for each child.
For the first time the campaign also includes a free consultation meeting for parents with a healthy-eating specialist, who will give a talk on “Prevention of children’s health problems through food” in every district of Plovdiv, according to a previously announced schedule.
Over the past six years, Plovdiv Municipality’s “Let’s Be Healthy” campaign has reached over 25,000 children and their parents. In 2017 it will cover 56 municipal kindergartens with over 5,000 children.
