“Plovdiv Sportsperson of the Year 2021” honours our best athletes

Bulgaria’s best swimmer, Yosif Miladinov, became Plovdiv’s number one sportsman for 2021. Miladinov finished eighth in the final at the Tokyo Olympic Games, became a silver medallist in the long-course pool at the European Championships and won two gold medals at the European Junior Championships. In second place was the aerobics world champion Darina Pashova, and third was the tennis player Dimitar Kuzmanov. Borislava Ivanova of SC Aerobics AMD became Plovdiv’s Best Young Talent. The gymnast Gergana Trendafilova finished second, and the athlete Plamena Mitkova third. The winner was announced at a ceremony in the City Art Gallery 1921. It was attended by the mayor of Plovdiv, Zdravko Dimitrov, the deputy mayors responsible for the area, Georgi Tityukov and Todor Chonov, the director of “Sports and Youth Activities”, Petar Zehtinski, the two-time Olympic champion Nikolay Buhalov, and Atanas Uzunov.
