Seventh Children’s Games “Stara Zagora Olympic Hopes”
Nearly 800 young athletes from 20 clubs took part in the seventh children’s games “Stara Zagora Olympic Hopes”, competing in 15 sports: basketball, volleyball, swimming, athletics, badminton, tennis, trampoline, karate, rhythmic gymnastics, artistic gymnastics, archery, wrestling, judo and sambo, weightlifting and football. The games became a true children’s sports festival that the participants will remember for a long time. The event is organised by the LIPA Civic Club in partnership with Stara Zagora Municipality. The games are held in honour of Master of Sport Dimitar Chifudov, the first Olympian from Stara Zagora, who took part in the Melbourne Games in 1956. The highlight of the event was in the Ivan Vazov Hall, where demonstrations of various sports were held. Sports competitions had taken place beforehand at various venues, the best attended traditionally being at the renovated swimming pool.
