The “Let’s Be Healthy” 2018 campaign started with lots of games and gifts
The fun educational campaign is being held for the eighth year in a row and is part of Plovdiv Municipality’s education policy. Over the next three months it will reach children aged five and six in a total of 60 municipal kindergartens in the city of Plovdiv.
The official opening was hosted by the newest kindergarten in the city, “Chayka”. The initiative was launched by Nikolay Chunchukov, mayor of Iztochen District, in the presence of the other special guests at the event - Ms Donka Shtilyanova, head of the Education Directorate at Plovdiv Municipality, experts from the directorate and a journalist.
The campaign aims to introduce children to the main food groups and the need for a varied diet, and also stresses the need for hydration. For the first time this year, the presenters’ programme follows the principles of Montessori pedagogy. The children competed with great enthusiasm in the organised active games. The entertaining programme included fruit and vegetable puzzles and a game of healthy shop, in which they chose the products themselves and sorted foods into healthy and unhealthy. In an engaging game the little ones learned when and how much water they need to drink. At the end of the show, all the children were delighted with a variety of useful prizes from Bachkovo spring water in support of the cause of the initiative - colouring brochures, toys and a bottle of water.
Over the past seven years, the “Let’s Be Healthy” campaign has given 1,000 performances to more than 40,000 children about the need to keep a child’s body hydrated and about varied, balanced eating.
