Cycling Season 2019 kicked off in Plovdiv with a mass procession
Hundreds of cyclists joined the procession that opened the cycling season. Cycling enthusiasts gathered at Saedinenie Square and set off along Maritsa - South Boulevard towards the Rowing Canal. The deputy mayor for sport and youth activities, Georgi Tityukov, led the column. The tradition was supported by the Botev legend Petar Zehtinski and municipal councillor Nikolay Buhalov, athletes, district mayors and councillors. A concert with raffles was organised at the Rowing Canal by the Tower, with a bicycle as the most attractive prize. The number of participants grows every year; in 2018 more than 1,000 people took part in the Great Cycling Procession, which is part of an initiative supporting the overall strategy of getting more and more people to use the most economical and environmentally friendly transport. The aim of the event is to encourage cycling in the urban environment and to promote a healthy lifestyle and way of getting around, as in many European cities. All participants received a T-shirt in the colours of the Bulgarian tricolour. We at “Nova Trade” took care of good hydration during the cycling procession, providing Bachkovo spring water for all the participants.
