Plovdiv chose its Sportsperson of the Year

Karate athlete Valeri Dimitrov became Plovdiv’s best sportsperson for the second time. He received the most votes in Plovdiv Municipality’s traditional poll and deservedly reached the top after the two European titles he won in 2018. His award was presented in person by the mayor, Ivan Totev, at an official ceremony in the packed hall of the Grand Hotel Plovdiv. Triple-jump Olympic champion Aleksandra Nacheva was named the top young sportsperson. In tribute to her achievement, the audience in the hall rose to their feet with thunderous applause. Lokomotiv Plovdiv legend Hristo Bonev and Botev star Toshko Nedelev presented awards to the mini-football world runners-up from the Bulgarian national team, made up almost entirely of players from Plovdiv. For another year, “Nova Trade” supported the “Plovdiv Sportsperson” ceremony. The company contributed to the event and consolidated its reputation as a patron of sport.
