About 700 rowers from 40 countries competed in Plovdiv for the Rowing World Cup, held from 10 to 12 May 2019, announced the chair of the organising committee, Ivan Popov. Under the rules of FISA (the World Rowing Federation) there are three World Cup rounds in total each year, and after Plovdiv come the regattas in Poznan and Lucerne. We won the right to host two years ago in the USA. Plovdiv had not previously organised this competition. Among the Bulgarian entries, Desislava Georgieva finished fourth in the final of the women’s single sculls at the Rowing World Cup in Plovdiv. The gold medal was won by Lisa Scheenaard of the Netherlands, ahead of Yan Jiang of China and the London Olympic champion Miroslava Knapkova of the Czech Republic. 19-year-old Madlen Markova won Final B of the same event. The double sculls pair Stanimir Haladzhov and Rangel Katsarski rowed a good race and finished second in Final B of the event. We at “Nova Trade” Ltd took care of the good hydration of all the rowers during the World Cup, supporting the athletes with the quantity of Bachkovo spring water they needed.
